My Website

Image
This is a website we worked on in e-Comm. It is also my final project.   The main home page. My project page.

About Me

Hi! My name is Erin Johnson. I'm a freshman at Olathe Northwest. Right now I am in a program called e-Communication, where you learn graphic design, animation, film, and web. Outside of school I do dance and track. My hobbies are drawing and some photography. I have taken photography and animation classes outside of e-Comm. I hope to have a job as a graphic designer in the future.

e-Comm Promo

Image
This is my e-Comm promo. I would change a lot about it. I would take less shots of people in front of computers, and ending shots. I would also find better-fitting music.

❁ E9 Chase Scene - Late For Class ❁

Image
This is an action-chase scene video I made for E9. It's about a girl who is late to class.

❁ Printing Video ❁

Image
This is a project that we did in film class. It was supposed to be about printing, and how to print. I think that getting shots and making a storyboard was fun, and editing was pretty easy for me.  Next time I make a video, I will try ti make it more interesting and have more of a story. I will also remember to not pan so much and keep the camera steady. Finally, I will get more closeup and interesting shots.

❁ Personality Test ❁

Image
I took a personality test to see what animal I am most like: The options were a Golden Retriever, Lion, Otter, and a Beaver. When I took the test I found out that my highest match was for a golden retriever,  and the second highest was for a lion.  The test said that golden retrievers are calm, affirming, and accommodating, but also indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotions, and too soft on other people. I found that those things are very true and all words I would use to describe myself. On the other hand, I found that I am nothing like the lion personality, which is  described as 'argumentative, bossy, and aggressive.'

❁ Personality Test ❁

Image
I took the Myers-Briggs personality test and I got the ISTJ personality type.  It says that I am an introvert, sensing, thinking, and judging.   I thought that my results were pretty accurate, except for being organized. Apparently ISTJ girls are uncommon, because we only take up 7% of the population: Some famous people who are also ISTJS are shown above ... Queen Elizabeth II and Harry Truman are two people that I was surprised to see on the list.

❁ The 6-Shot System ❁

Image
The 6-Shot System This is a sequence of shots that you should do to keep the viewer interested and aware of what is happening when filming.                                      1. Close up of the hands This shot shows action, and it shows what the subject is doing.  It can also be an establishing shot, to show the viewers that the subject is typing, studying, etc. 2. Close up of the face This shot shows the emotion of the subject.  50% of shots should be close ups and extreme close ups of the face.   3.  Medium Shot The medium shot is a very neutral shot.  In a medium shot, the subject can be seen from the waist up. It establishes their actions and emotions at the same time. A medium shot should feel like you could be  having a conversation with the subject. 4. Wide Shot The wide shot ties together the whole subject from head to toe. You can see the entire person in a wide shot and their actions. 5. Over the Shoulde

❁ "They Loved Your G.P.A. Then They Saw Your Tweets" Article Response ❁

In the article "They Loved Your G.P.A. Then They Saw Your Tweets." , the author talks about how many students, despite having good G.P.A's, are not getting into their desired colleges because of the things they post on social media.  This article was surprising to me, because I didn't know that schools went through students' social medias. I think that schools doing that may be violation of privacy, but I also think that it may be helpful for schools if they have a very specific type of student they want. Some questions I have about the article is how often to students get rejected for their social media? Also, do teachers ever tell students that they look through their social media accounts?  One quote that was said in the article is “We would have wondered about the judgment of someone who spends their time on their mobile phone and makes such awful remarks." This is an example of how colleges and schools judge their students by their social

❁ PhotoShop Name Animation Tutorial ❁

Image
This tutorial is going to show you how to make a photoshop name animation, like the one below.  This animation will help us learn to make frame-by-frame animations in photoshop. Step 1. First, you need to make a new photoshop file. Make it 600w x 300h or something similar.  You will make a text layer of your name in a large font. The font should also look like handwriting - it will make the animation look better. After making the font layer, 'duplicate' it in a new layer and make the original text layer not shown.  You will end up with a file that looks like this. Step 2. Now, duplicate the copy of the original text layer (you will need to make a lot of copies in this project). Once you've made the copy, erase a little bit of the last letter off. Like this. Continue to make copies and delete a little bit off of each letter until your file is blank. Remember to make the previous layer not visible each time you make a n

❁ Photoshop Timeline Project ❁

Image
This was another project we did in photoshop, using the timeline. The words around my name are supposed to be words that I would use to describe myself. The project was fun and I thought it was easier than normal frame animation. I liked how we were given the option to choose our own colors, fonts, backgrounds, etc. On this project.

❁ Bouncing with Arcs ❁

Image
This animation helped me improve at moving an object in an animation, and also used squash and stretch. I found it the most difficult to get the arcs to look how I wanted.

❁ Bouncing Ball Animation ❁

Image
This is my first animation in PhotoShop. It's of a bouncing ball. With this animation I mostly learned how to use squash and stretch to make an animation look more realistic. The most difficult part for me was getting used to the different tools in photoshop.
