Music Video Professional Project: Starboy

    The music video was for the first song of The Weeknd's album, Starboy. It basically introduces The Weeknd's new musical persona, and makes a statement about how he feels about his role in the music industry. The music video has amazing editing and cinematography. The rich blue, green and red color scheme is beautiful and fits the tone of the song very well. The editing matches the beats perfectly, which really emphasizes the catchiness of the song. 
    The story of the video is a bit vague and interpretive, but you can tell that the creators did that on purpose. It begins with the "old" Weeknd (long hair, etc.) tied up in a chair, sitting across from a masked man. The masked man gets up and suffocates the old Weeknd with a bag, killing him. This is representative of The Weeknd "killing" his old persona and moving in a new direction with his music. The masked man then removes said mask, revealing it is once again The Weeknd, but with a new short haircut signifying his change. The new Weeknd then walks around the house and begins destroying various music awards with a giant, glowing red cross. 
    I love the use of color and want to experiment with using more beautiful lightings and color schemes in my videos. Also, beautiful and striking costume design to further emphasize and build characters. 
    The editing is made so that each shot perfectly matches the beats, which is something i try to do with my videos. 
    The creators did a great job with color scheme, cinematography and editing. This one of my recent favorite music videos.

Onw Procedures Video               The aim of this project was to incorporate one of the ONW Procedures into a sort of "how-to" video, including the 6-shot system and the tools we had available with our new cameras. My partner and I decided to use the ID Procedure for our video. Our original idea was for a girl to be in the library wanting to check out a book, but was unable to because she did not have her ID on her. The video would then show the 'correct' way to follow the procedure, with the girl taking out her ID to check out her book.  We filmed in the library. It was a struggle trying to incorporate all six shots (over the shoulder, extreme wide, etc.), into our video, and in hindsight I wish we would have taken more shots than what we ended up with. As we started to edit, it soon became clear to my partner and I that our thirty-second time limit was too short to create our original idea. ❁ PhotoShop Name Animation Tutorial ❁

This tutorial is going to show you how to make a photoshop name animation, like the one below.  This animation will help us learn to make frame-by-frame animations in photoshop. Step 1. First, you need to make a new photoshop file. Make it 600w x 300h or something similar.  You will make a text layer of your name in a large font. The font should also look like handwriting - it will make the animation look better. After making the font layer, 'duplicate' it in a new layer and make the original text layer not shown.  You will end up with a file that looks like this. Step 2. Now, duplicate the copy of the original text layer (you will need to make a lot of copies in this project). Once you've made the copy, erase a little bit of the last letter off. Like this. ❁ Bouncing Ball Animation ❁

This is my first animation in PhotoShop. It's of a bouncing ball. With this animation I mostly learned how to use squash and stretch to make an animation look more realistic. The most difficult part for me was getting used to the different tools in photoshop.
